13 Hands Equine Rescue is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming horses in need. Many of the horses who come through our gates have been abused, neglected, or funneled through the auction pipeline toward a tragic fate we work tirelessly to prevent.
Upon rescue, each horse is placed in a 30-day quarantine period to rest, receive medical attention, and begin the journey toward healing. Once cleared by a licensed veterinarian, they come to our rescue where their transformation continues.
Some will go on to become partners in our Equine Assisted Learning programs for veterans and children, offering quiet strength, comfort, and connection. Others will be adopted into loving homes. And for those who need lifelong sanctuary, 13 Hands becomes home—a place where they can live out their lives in peace and safety.
We believe in the extraordinary power of the horse-human bond. At 13 Hands, we’re not just rescuing horses—we’re creating opportunities for healing on both sides of the fence. Through education and outreach, we strive to raise awareness about equine welfare and the importance of rescue efforts.
We are proud to be a Platinum GuideStar member, a testament to our transparency and impact.
Together, we can give these horses the love, care, and second chances they so deeply deserve.
At the heart of our mission is a dedicated team, on the ground and behind the scenes, working to ensure every horse receives the care, dignity, and second chance they deserve.
Meet the leaders helping guide that mission forward on our Board of Directors page.
