Marylou Tortorello – Founder & President

Marylou founded 13 Hands Equine Rescue in November 2015. She has been a lifelong animal lover with a special affinity for horses. Her commitment to horses has allowed 13 Hands to save horses from the slaughter pipeline, find them new homes and use some of them to help our veterans heal.  She also runs a bookkeeping company.

 

Glenn Albright – Board Member

Glenn is a licensed psychologist who received his PhD from City University of New York in the area of Experimental Cognition and Applied Psychophysiology. Glenn is a professor at Baruch College.

 

Joi Muratore – Board Member

Joi has a business background which she plans to use to help 13 Hand’s continue to raise awareness of the plight of horses everywhere and how each of us can work to effect positive change for all equines.

 

Kim Zimmerman – Board Member

Kim is a Special Education teacher in our area, and she also works with Mohawk Day Camp and runs their farm/nature program.  Kim met us when she had to re-home the Day Camp pony and we haven’t looked back since!

 

Andrew O’Grady – Board Member

Andrew, LCSW-R is the CEO of Mental Health America Dutchess County.  He is recognized for his compassion and leadership on many mental health topics.  With 30 years of service to those affected by mental illness and addiction, Andrew brings much support to our Equine Assisted Therapy program for veterans.

 

David Tortorello – [Honorary Board Member]

David works with a large global professional services firm where he is the segment leader in Disputes, Forensics & Legal Technology.
