standardbred rescue nys

Oscar is a senior Standardbred gelding who lost his right eye due to an old injury, but he gets around well with the help of his companion, Sydney, a senior Quarter Horse mare. These two horses have been inseparable for years and are available for adoption as a bonded pair.

As older horses, Oscar and Sydney are looking for a quiet home where they can settle down together. They are both a bit shy, so they need a patient owner who is willing to spend time earning their trust. With care and kindness, they’ll become loyal, gentle companions.

Both Oscar and Sydney receive senior grain during the winter months to help maintain their weight. They are halter-trained and can be led, but they would thrive in a home willing to work on making them more comfortable with being approached and haltered. Both are cooperative and can stand for the farrier.

If you’re ready to offer these sweet seniors a soft place to land, they’re ready to join your family.
