When Oreo first came to 13 Hands, she was completely terrified of people. We think she must have been severely abused. She would bolt to the back of her stall if anyone came near, and take panicked breaths, staring straight ahead and just hoping you’d leave her alone. She has come SUCH a long way! She now eagerly looks to people for treats, comes up to the people she’s familiar with, and is learning how to walk on a lead line. She still has a long way to go before she’s entirely comfortable around people, but luckily she’s very smart, food-motivated, and willing to learn.
Please help Oreo and the other horses by adopting, fostering and sponsoring, or making a donation. You can also help 13 Hands by volunteering, spreading the word, liking our Facebook page, and signing up for our newsletter. If you have any questions, please contact us using our Contact Page.
